Richard Szalkowski

Richard S. Szalkowski joined Raymond James in September of 2008. His responsibilities include credit research on hospitals, healthcare systems, corporate-backed transactions, utilities, charter schools and California land-secured deals.

Prior to joining Raymond James, Mr. Szalkowski worked at UBS Investment Bank for eight years. From 2007 to 2008, he was a municipal desk analyst in the municipal credit and strategy group supporting sales, trading and retail high-net-worth clients. His responsibilities included credit analysis on investment-grade and high-yield municipal issuers with a primary focus on healthcare, long-term care, housing, land secured, higher education, tobacco and industrial development bonds. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Szalkowski was a municipal high-yield trader covering traditional high-yield issues as well as ‘A’ or lower healthcare and corporate-backed issuers. From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Szalkowski was a research analyst in the Municipal Research Group, Inc., specializing in healthcare, long-term care, housing, land secured and industrial development bonds.

Prior to joining UBS, Mr. Szalkowski worked at FitchRating in the healthcare and higher-education group from 1998 to 2000. His responsibilities included analyzing and rating hospital, long-term care and higher-education new issue transactions.

Prior to working at FitchRatings, Mr. Szalkowski worked at Moody’s Investors Service in the healthcare ratings group from 1994 to 1997. From 1997 to 1998, he provided qualitative and quantitative credit analysis used in the assignment of credit ratings on hospital and health systems. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Szalkowski performed an underlying rating analysis on insured hospital and health systems and prepared credit and ratio analyses for senior group members.

Mr. Szalkowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Rider University. He is currently licensed with Series 7, 16 and 63.
